The verse highlights dharma through fidelity to one’s word and reverence for the guru: the speaker prioritizes fulfilling the teacher’s due and insists on returning at the agreed time, accepting rightful authority and accountability.
Uttanka addresses a king, stating that once he has delivered the wealth owed to his teacher—wealth that is presently under the king’s control—he will return at the appointed time and submit again to the king’s command, in accordance with his promise.
