मरुत्तोपाख्यान-प्रस्तावः — Genealogy to Marutta and the Logistics of Royal Sacrifice

चक्कुः सुवर्णकर्तारो येषां संख्या न विद्यते । तस्यैव च समीपे तु यज्ञवाटो बभूव ह

cakṣuḥ suvarṇakartāro yeṣāṃ saṅkhyā na vidyate | tasyaiva ca samīpe tu yajñavāṭo babhūva ha ||

Vyāsa dit : « Les artisans de l’or étaient si nombreux qu’on ne pouvait en compter le nombre. Près de cette même montagne d’or, on établit une enceinte sacrificielle, et c’est là que le rite fut mis en marche. » Le passage souligne l’ampleur extraordinaire des préparatifs de l’Aśvamedha : richesse et savoir-faire mobilisés non pour une jouissance privée, mais pour soutenir un acte védique public et réglé, dont la légitimité dépend d’un agencement juste, de matériaux adéquats et d’une exécution ordonnée.
