अध्याय ९ — धृतराष्ट्रस्य युधिष्ठिरं प्रति राजनित्युपदेशः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Counsel on Royal Policy to Yudhiṣṭhira
स राजन् मानसं दुःखमपनीय युधिषछ्िरात्
sa rājan mānasaṃ duḥkham apanīya yudhiṣṭhirāt
Vaiśampāyana dit : Ô roi, ayant dissipé la douleur qui pesait dans l’esprit de Yudhiṣṭhira, (le cours des événements se poursuivit). Ce vers met en lumière l’œuvre éthique de la consolation d’un souverain juste : il faut affermir et apaiser son chagrin afin que le dharma demeure, jusque dans la vieillesse et le renoncement.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Dharma is sustained not only by action but by inner steadiness; dispelling mental grief in a righteous leader is an ethical act that restores clarity, restraint, and right judgment.
The narrator reports that someone (contextually, a consoling elder/guide) has alleviated Yudhiṣṭhira’s inner sorrow, preparing him to proceed with the next stage of events in the Āśramavāsika narrative.
