अध्याय ९ — धृतराष्ट्रस्य युधिष्ठिरं प्रति राजनित्युपदेशः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Counsel on Royal Policy to Yudhiṣṭhira
प्राप्स्यते च भवान् पुण्यं धर्मे च परमां स्थितिम्
prāpsyate ca bhavān puṇyaṃ dharme ca paramāṃ sthitim
Et tu obtiendras le mérite, et dans le dharma tu parviendras à l’état de fermeté le plus élevé — assurance que la conduite juste n’aboutit pas seulement à une récompense spirituelle, mais aussi à un établissement inébranlable sur la voie suprême du devoir.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
That steadfast adherence to dharma yields puṇya (moral-spiritual merit) and culminates in the highest stability in righteousness—dharma is presented not merely as action but as a state of firm spiritual establishment.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, conveys an assurance to an addressed person (bhavān) that the course being urged or undertaken will lead to merit and the supreme standing in dharma, reinforcing the ethical direction of the episode.
