Śrāddha-dvija-parīkṣā: Paṅkti-dūṣa and Paṅkti-pāvana
As a chapter-colophon, the line signals closure of a unit of instruction: dharma is upheld through disciplined giving (dāna) and through properly performed śrāddha rites, which express gratitude to ancestors and sustain social-religious order.
The text is concluding a chapter within Bhīṣma’s discourse. It identifies the larger book (Anuśāsana Parva) and the sub-topic (dāna-dharma and śrāddha procedure), marking the end of the eighty-seventh chapter of that śrāddha-focused portion.
