Devotion and respectful service toward cows (go-bhakti/go-sevā), treated as a dharmic practice, generates merit that bears fruit as the fulfillment of legitimate desires—presented as applicable to all, including women.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction-setting, Bhishma continues advising on dharma and meritorious observances; here he praises devotion to cows as a potent source of spiritual merit and worldly attainment.
