न च तौ चक्रतुः क्रोधं॑ दम्पती सुमहामती । तयो: सम्प्रेक्षतोरेव पुनरन्तर्हितो5भवत्‌,परंतु उन परम बुद्धिमान्‌ दम्पतिने उनपर क्रोध नहीं प्रकट किया। उन दोनोंके देखते- ही-देखते वे मुनि फिर अन्तर्धान हो गये

na ca tau cakratuḥ krodhaṁ dampatī sumahāmatī | tayoḥ samprekṣator eva punar antarhito 'bhavat ||

Bhishma dit : Pourtant, cet époux et cette épouse d’une sagesse suprême ne cédèrent pas à la colère contre eux. Sous leurs yeux mêmes, le sage disparut de nouveau—montrant que la maîtrise de soi et la patience sont plus hautes que la riposte, même lorsqu’on est provoqué.
