Viśvāmitra-janma: Ṛcīka–Satyavatī–Gādhi and the Charu Exchange (विश्वामित्र-जन्म: ऋचीक–सत्यवती–गाधि वृत्तान्तः)
कन्या जज्ञे सुतात् तस्य वने निवसत: सतः । नाम्ना सत्यवती नाम रूपेणाप्रतिमा भुवि
kanyā jajñe sutāt tasya vane nivasataḥ sataḥ | nāmnā satyavatī nāma rūpeṇāpratimā bhuvi ||
Bhīṣma dit : Tandis que ce roi demeurait dans la forêt, une fille lui naquit. On la nomma Satyavatī, et sur la terre sa beauté était sans égale—présence extraordinaire qui, plus tard, deviendrait déterminante dans le cours de la lignée royale et du devoir.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the emergence of an exceptional person within a royal-ethical narrative: extraordinary qualities (like incomparable beauty) are presented as markers of destiny that can influence lineage and the responsibilities (dharma) of rulers and families.
Bhishma narrates that while a king was residing in the forest, a daughter was born to him. She was named Satyavatī, and she is described as unmatched in beauty on earth, foreshadowing her later importance in the dynastic story.
