ततो<सस्‍्य विधिवच्चक्रुः पितृमेधं महात्मन:

Transliteration

tato 'sya vidhivac cakruḥ pitṛmedhaṃ mahātmanaḥ | apasavyam akurvanta dhṛtarāṣṭramukhāśritāḥ ||

Translation

Alors ils accomplirent selon la règle le rite funéraire (pitṛmedha) pour Bhīṣma au grand cœur. Conduits par Dhṛtarāṣṭra et les plus éminents des Kaurava, ils observèrent les prescriptions, y compris la circumambulation rituelle en sens inverse, propre aux cérémonies de deuil. Ainsi, avec une solennelle justesse, ils honorèrent l’aîné tombé, affirmant le dharma par des rites corrects malgré les ravages de la guerre.
