Anuśāsana-parva 17
श्रुतै: सर्वत्र जगति ब्रह्मलोकावतारितै: । सत्यैस्तत् परमं ब्रह्म ब्रह्म॒प्रोक्ते सनातनम्
śrutaiḥ sarvatra jagati brahmalokāvatāritaiḥ | satyais tat paramaṃ brahma brahma-prokte sanātanam ||
Vāyu dit : «Ces noms, descendus du monde de Brahmā et entendus avec révérence dans l’univers entier, sont véridiques et infaillibles. C’est là le Brahman suprême : un hymne éternel, prononcé par Brahmā lui-même. Aussi ces noms sont-ils tenus pour accomplis et capables de réaliser les desseins. Ô Kṛṣṇa, le plus éminent de la lignée des Yadu ! Cet antique śiva-stotra surpasse les autres hymnes, imprégné de l’esprit du Veda, premier parmi les louanges ; il confère le ciel, est salutaire à tous les êtres et porte l’auspice. Je te le réciterai : écoute avec attention de ma bouche, car tu es dévot du grand Seigneur (Mahādeva) ; reçois donc cet hymne qui est de la nature même de Śiva.»
