vāyudeva uvāca | trivarge cāpavarge ca yaśaḥśrīrogaśāntiṣu | devatāpitṛpūjāsu santoṣyāś caiva no dvijāḥ ||
That the proper honoring and full satisfaction of brāhmaṇas—especially through respectful hospitality, gifts, and ritual propriety—is presented as a means to secure both worldly goals (dharma, wealth, pleasure, fame, prosperity, health) and the highest goal (mokṣa).
Vāyudeva is delivering an instruction within the Anuśāsana Parva’s broader discourse on dharma, emphasizing the religious and social duty of supporting brāhmaṇas, particularly during worship of the gods and ancestral rites.
