Silence in the face of instruction prompts renewed guidance: the passage emphasizes receptivity (śravaṇa) to dharmic and rishi-centered exemplars, suggesting that ethical understanding is cultivated by listening to accounts of great souls and their deeds.
After being addressed, Kartavīrya Arjuna remains silent. Vāyu then speaks again, directing him to hear the account of the great deeds of the sage Atri, setting up a new illustrative episode within Bhishma’s discourse.
