अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
उपमन्युरुवाच एतान् दत्त्वा वरान् देवो वन्द्यमान: सुरभि: | स्तूयमानश्व विबुधैस्तत्रैवान्तरधीयत
Upamanyur uvāca: etān dattvā varān devo vandyamānaḥ surabhiḥ | stūyamānaś ca vibudhais tatraivāntaradhīyata ||
Upamanyu dit : Après avoir accordé ces grâces, le Seigneur divin—vénéré par Surabhī et célébré par les dieux—s’évanouit en ce lieu même. L’épisode montre que la dévotion sincère et la louange légitime s’achèvent en grâce divine ; pourtant la présence du divin demeure insaisissable, apparaissant et se retirant selon sa propre volonté.
