अड-#-#क+ एकोनपज्चाशर्दाधिकशततमो< ध्याय: श्रीविष्णुसहसत्रनामस्तोत्रम् (यस्य स्मरणमात्रेण जन्मसंसारबन्धनात् । विमुच्यते नमस्तस्मै विष्णवे प्रभविष्णवे ।।
vaiśampāyana uvāca: śrutvā dharmān aśeṣeṇa pāvanāni ca sarvaśaḥ | yudhiṣṭhiraḥ śāntanavaṃ punar evābhyabhāṣata ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Après avoir entendu en entier les enseignements sur le dharma—ainsi que les principes purificateurs qui effacent le péché de toutes les manières—le roi Yudhiṣṭhira, fils de Dharma, s’adressa de nouveau à Bhīṣma, fils de Śāntanu.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Ethical learning is not merely theoretical: after hearing dharma in its entirety, one should return with focused questions to clarify practice. The verse highlights dharma as intrinsically purifying (pāvana) and portrays sincere inquiry as part of righteous conduct.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira, having listened to Bhīṣma’s extensive discourse on dharma and purifying teachings, speaks to him again—setting up the next request, traditionally leading into the teaching connected with the Viṣṇu-sahasranāma.
