Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
अर्द्धमानाश्च विबुधा ग्रहेण सुबलीयसा । शिवदत्तवरान् जष्नुरसुरेन्द्रान सुरा भूशम्
arddhamānāś ca vibudhā graheṇa subalīyasā | śivadattavarān jaṣṇur asurendrān surā bhūśam ||
Vāsudeva dit : «Lorsque ce Graha d’une puissance excessive se mit à tourmenter les dieux, les devas —bien que durement pressés— ripostèrent et battirent les seigneurs des asuras qui avaient reçu des dons accordés par Śiva. Ainsi se poursuivit entre eux une guerre de longue durée, montrant que même une puissance protégée par le divin, lorsqu’elle sert l’oppression, appelle la résistance et un conflit tenace.»
