Brāhmaṇa-pūjā and Namaskāra: Criteria of Reverence and Non-Offense (ब्राह्मणपूजा-नमस्कारविधिः)

तरक्षोश्ष्म दंष्टाश्न तथैव गिरिकच्छप: । आज्यधूमो बिडालश्नच्छाग: कृष्णोडथ पिड्ूल:

tarakṣoṣma-daṃṣṭrāśna tathāiva girikacchapaḥ | ājya-dhūmo biḍālāśna-cchāgaḥ kṛṣṇo 'tha piṇḍūlaḥ ||

Bhishma dit : Dans la demeure où le feu sacré de l’Agnihotra est entretenu sans cesse, jour et nuit; où se trouvent la peau d’un « petit tigre » (bête proche de l’hyène ou du chacal) avec ses dents, ainsi qu’une tortue de montagne; où s’élève une fumée parfumée des oblations de ghee; et où l’on garde un chat et une chèvre—noire ou fauve—lorsque tout cela est réuni dans la maison d’un maître de foyer, les terribles rôdeurs nocturnes mangeurs de chair n’osent pas attaquer ce foyer.
