नहुषोपाख्यानम्—दीपदान-धूप-बलीकर्म-प्रशंसा
Nahūṣa Episode and the Commendation of Lamp-Gifting and Household Offerings
ततः स परिहीणो<भूत् सुरेन्द्रो बलदर्पत: । धूपदीपोदकविधधि न यथावच्चकार ह
tataḥ sa parihīṇo 'bhūt surendro baladarpataḥ | dhūpadīpodakavidhīṁ na yathāvac cakāra ha ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Alors ce seigneur des dieux déchut de son état légitime, enivré par l’orgueil de la puissance. Il n’accomplissait plus, comme il est prescrit, les rites d’offrande d’encens, de lampes et d’eau.» Le passage souligne combien l’arrogance ronge la discipline des devoirs sacrés, et comment la négligence même des offrandes quotidiennes les plus simples annonce un déclin plus profond du dharma.
