Gārhasthya-dharma: Vāsudeva–Pṛthivī-saṃvāda
Householder Duties and Daily Offerings
Bhīṣma teaches that sincere practice of gṛhastha-dharma yields a twofold fruit: honorable reputation in this life and heavenly attainment after death, linking ethical household conduct with both social and spiritual outcomes.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma is instructing the king on dharma. Here he concludes or reinforces a section on householder duties by assuring the listener that striving to follow these prescriptions brings worldly esteem and posthumous reward.
