The verse underscores how qualities of a cosmic force (wind) are mirrored in its offspring: swiftness (Manojava) and inscrutability of motion (Avijñātagati). In Mahābhārata’s genealogical style, such naming conveys character and function, reminding readers that nature’s powers are understood through meaningful lineages and attributes.
Vaiśampāyana is listing genealogical details: he identifies Anila’s wife as Śivā and names their two sons, Manojava and Avijñātagati, thereby completing a small segment of a broader catalog of beings and their progeny in Ādi Parva.
