प्रत्यूषस्य विदु: पुत्रमृषिं नाम्नाथ देवलम् | दौ पुत्रौ देवलस्यापि क्षमावन्ती मनीषिणौ | बृहस्पतेस्तु भगिनी वरस्त्री ब्रह्मवादिनी,देवल नामक सुप्रसिद्ध मुनिको प्रत्यूषका पुत्र माना जाता है। देवलके भी दो पुत्र हुए। वे दोनों ही क्षमावान् और मनीषी थे। बृहस्पतिकी बहिन स्त्रियोंमें श्रेष्ठ एवं ब्रह्मवादिनी थीं। वे योगमें तत्पर हो सम्पूर्ण जगत्में अनासक्त भावसे विचरती रहीं। वे ही वसुओंमें आठवें वसु प्रभासकी धर्मपत्नी थीं

Vaiśampāyana dit : On sait que Devala est le fils de Pratyūṣa, un sage renommé. Devala eut lui aussi deux fils, tous deux patients de caractère et sages d’intelligence. Et il y avait la sœur de Bṛhaspati, femme éminente entre les femmes, qui proclamait le brahman, la vérité spirituelle.
