वैशम्पायन उवाच एवं स्तुतस्तदा तेन मन्दपालेन पावक:

Transliteration

Vaiśampāyana uvāca—evaṁ stutas tadā tena Mandapālena Pāvakaḥ; prasannaḥ sa mahātejā ṛṣim abhyabhāṣata—“kiṁ te ’bhīṣṭaṁ karavāṇi?”

Translation

Vaiśampāyana dit : Ainsi loué en ce temps-là par le sage Mandapāla, Pāvaka (Agni), rayonnant d’une splendeur sans mesure, en fut grandement satisfait. Le cœur joyeux, il s’adressa au voyant : « Quel dessein que tu désires dois-je accomplir ? »
