पश्यति सम महाबाहुं भीम॑ भीमपराक्रमम् । आर्यकेण च दृष्ट: स पृथाया आर्यकेण च,तब वासुकिने उन नागोंके साथ आकर भयंकर पराक्रमी महाबाहु भीमसेनको देखा। उसी समय नागराज आर्यकने भी उन्हें देखा, जो पृथाके पिता शूरसेनके नाना थे। उन्होंने अपने दौहित्रके दौहित्रको कसकर छातीसे लगा लिया। महायशस्वी नागराज वासुकि भी भीमसेनपर बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और बोले--“इनका कौन-सा प्रिय कार्य किया जाय? इन्हें धन, सोना और रत्नोंकी राशि भेंट की जाय”
paśyati sa mahābāhuṃ bhīmaṃ bhīmaparākramam | āryakeṇa ca dṛṣṭaḥ sa pṛthāyā āryakeṇa ca ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Alors il vit Bhīma, aux bras puissants et terrible par sa vaillance. À cet instant même, Āryaka, le vénérable ancien des Nāgas lié à la lignée de Pṛthā, le vit aussi. Reconnaissant son descendant, Āryaka le serra étroitement contre sa poitrine. Le glorieux roi des Nāgas, Vāsuki, fut lui aussi grandement satisfait de Bhīmasena et dit : «Quel service cher devons-nous accomplir pour lui ? Devons-nous lui offrir des richesses—de l’or et des monceaux de joyaux ?»
