caṇḍaḥ sarvagaṇeśāno mukhācchaṃbhorvinirgataḥ śivārcanarataḥ śrīmān sa me pāpaṃ vyapohatu
Suta Goswami (narrating a protective/merit-bestowing invocation within the Linga Purana’s Shiva-arcana context)
It functions as a purification-prayer: by remembering a Gaṇa who is wholly absorbed in Śiva-arcana, the devotee seeks removal of pāpa, making the worshipper fit (adhikārin) for Linga-pūjā and its fruits.
Śiva appears as Pati (the sovereign Lord) whose very breath/word manifests divine attendants; his śakti of grace operates through such Gaṇas to loosen pāśa (bondage) and cleanse the paśu (individual soul).
Śiva-arcana (formal worship) is central; the verse also reflects a Pāśupata-style purification intent—confession and removal of impurities through remembrance, praise, and alignment with Śiva’s attendants devoted to worship.
