Adhyaya 71: पुरत्रयवृत्तान्तः—ब्रह्मवरदानम्, मयकृतत्रिपुर-निर्माणम्, विष्णुमाया-धर्मविघ्नः, शिवस्तुति, त्रिपुरदाहोपक्रमः
विष्णुनोत्पादितैर्भूतैर् न दग्धं तत्पुरत्रयम् पुरस्य संभवः सर्वो वरलाभः पुरा श्रुतः
viṣṇunotpāditairbhūtair na dagdhaṃ tatpuratrayam purasya saṃbhavaḥ sarvo varalābhaḥ purā śrutaḥ
Les trois cités (Tripura) ne furent pas brûlées par les êtres engendrés par Viṣṇu. Car l’on avait entendu depuis longtemps que toute l’édification de cette citadelle—et l’obtention de ses dons—avait déjà été scellée par d’anciennes grâces; ainsi, de telles forces créées demeuraient sans effet sans le Seigneur (Pati).
