Jyotish-chakra: Surya’s Motion and Monthly Retinues
एते तपन्ति वर्षन्ति भान्ति वान्ति सृजन्ति च भूतानामशुभं कर्म व्यपोहन्तीह कीर्तिताः
ete tapanti varṣanti bhānti vānti sṛjanti ca bhūtānāmaśubhaṃ karma vyapohantīha kīrtitāḥ
Ces puissances divines brûlent de chaleur, versent la pluie, resplendissent, soufflent comme les vents et font aussi surgir la création ; et l’on les célèbre ici comme celles qui chassent le karma néfaste des êtres — desserrant, par la grâce de Pati, le Seigneur Śiva, le pasha (lien) du pashu (l’âme).

It frames Shiva’s linga-centered reality as the source of the five cosmic operations—heat, rain, light, wind, and creation—and teaches that contemplating and praising these powers purifies aśubha karma, making the worshipper fit for Shiva’s anugraha (liberating grace).
Shiva-tattva is shown as Pati manifesting through shakti as the sustaining and creative forces of the cosmos, while also being the purifier who removes karmic impurity—transforming the pashu by dissolving pasha.
The verse points to kīrtana (praise/recitation) and contemplative alignment with Shiva’s cosmic functions—an inner Pāśupata orientation where devotion and insight work together to burn and wash away aśubha karma.
