युगधर्मवर्णनम् — चतुर्युग, गुण, धर्मपाद, तथा वार्तोत्पत्ति

वर्णाश्रमप्रतिष्ठां च चकार स्वेन तेजसा वृत्तेन वृत्तिना वृत्तं विश्वात्मा निर्ममे स्वयम्

varṇāśramapratiṣṭhāṃ ca cakāra svena tejasā vṛttena vṛttinā vṛttaṃ viśvātmā nirmame svayam

Par sa propre splendeur spirituelle, le Soi universel établit le fondement de l’ordre des varṇa et des āśrama ; et, par le juste principe de la conduite et la puissance qui met la conduite en mouvement, ce Pati du cosmos façonna lui-même le cours réglé de la vie mondaine.
