Sūta (narrator) recounting Purāṇic genealogy to the sages
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
This verse is genealogical rather than metaphysical; it emphasizes continuity of sacred lineage (vaṁśa) through which dharma and spiritual teachings are preserved, rather than directly defining Ātman.
No specific yoga practice is taught in this line; its function is to situate later teachings within an authoritative transmission through lineage, a common Purāṇic framework supporting disciplines such as Pāśupata Yoga elsewhere in the Kurma Purana.
It does not explicitly address Śiva–Viṣṇu unity; it contributes to the Purāṇic narrative architecture (lineage and authority) within which the Kurma Purana later presents its Śaiva–Vaiṣṇava synthesis.
