Kurma Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 20

Kali-yuga Doṣas, the Supremacy of Rudra as Refuge, and the Closure of the Manvantara Teaching

FAQs

It does not directly teach Atman-doctrine; it focuses on varnashrama-based social conduct, implying that dharma in society supports the conditions for higher spiritual pursuit taught elsewhere in the Kurma Purana.

No specific yogic technique is taught in this verse; it addresses ethical discipline and proper social duties (seva and respect), which function as preparatory restraints aligned with dharmic living that complements later yoga teachings (including Pashupata-oriented discipline in other sections).

It does not mention Shiva or Vishnu explicitly; its contribution is indirect—by emphasizing dharma and right conduct, it supports the Purana’s broader synthesis where devotion and discipline are harmonized across Shaiva-Vaishnava frameworks.
