Kurma Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 41

Dakṣa-yajña-bhaṅgaḥ — Dadhīci’s Teaching and the Destruction of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice

FAQs

By contrasting revilement with worship, the verse implies that the Divine cannot be reduced to sectarian blame; the same sacred presence is approached through tīrtha and devotion, pointing to a single, transcendent reality beyond personal antagonism.

The verse emphasizes tīrtha-sevā and īśvara-bhakti as purifying disciplines: approaching Gaṅgādvāra for worship functions as a practical sādhana that refines intention, humility, and reverence—supporting the broader Kurma Purana ethic of inner purification alongside outer ritual.

Even when narratives show conflict or harsh speech, the Kurma Purana’s broader purport is integrative: sacred agency and worship converge at holy places, encouraging a non-sectarian reading where Śiva and the Supreme Lord are honored within one dharmic framework.
