Humility, Surrender, and the Power of the Name
Garuda (Vinata-putra), addressing Lord Vishnu
Concept: Sarva-kriyā-samarpaṇa: sleep, waking, and work reinterpreted as vandana, pradakṣiṇā, and stuti.
Vedantic Theme: Karma-yoga within bhakti: actions purified by īśvara-arpana and īśvara-prasāda-buddhi.
Application: Set a daily sankalpa: sleep with gratitude, begin day with remembrance, treat duties as worship; periodically pause to mentally offer actions to the Lord.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.6.20 (viṣṇu-prītyartha-vrata)
This verse frames ordinary states—sleep, waking conduct, and daily work—as continuous devotion, teaching that bhakti is not limited to rituals but can pervade all actions offered to the Lord.
By emphasizing surrender of all actions to the Lord, it points to inner purification through devotion and dharmic conduct—preparing the consciousness for a higher post-death journey rather than bondage through ego-driven karma.
Begin and end the day with remembrance, keep ethical conduct as your “pradakshina,” and mentally dedicate work and responsibilities to the Divine to reduce anxiety and cultivate steady devotion.
