Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinatā-putra in the Garuḍa Purāṇa dialogue frame)

Concept: Tithi-wise devotion: worship of Caturvyūha (Vāsudeva-Saṅkarṣaṇa-Pradyumna-Aniruddha), then Hari, then Skanda and the Sun—channeling protection, vitality, and prosperity.

Vedantic Theme: Viṣṇu’s emanational theology (Pāñcarātra flavor) integrated with deva-worship; the One approached through ordered forms and cosmic powers (Sūrya as tejas).

Application: On caturthī, contemplate/chant names of the Caturvyūha; on pañcamī, simple Hari-arcana; on ṣaṣṭhī and saptamī, offer arghya to Sūrya at sunrise and honor Kārttikeya for courage and protection.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

This verse maps specific lunar days to specific deities, presenting a disciplined vrata framework where worship is aligned with the tithi to gain corresponding spiritual and worldly benefits.

The verse assigns Ravi to ṣaṣṭhī and Bhāskara to saptamī, highlighting Sūrya-upāsanā as especially efficacious on these days, with saptamī explicitly linked to prosperity (arthada).

If you observe monthly vratas, use caturthī for Caturvyūha/Viṣṇu-focused worship, pañcamī for Hari, ṣaṣṭhī for Skanda and Sūrya, and saptamī for Sūrya prayers/ārghya with an intention for clarity, health, and right livelihood.
