Sāṅkhya: Categories of the Absolute Truth and the Unfolding of Creation
Tattva-vicāra
चित्तेन हृदयं चैत्य: क्षेत्रज्ञ: प्राविशद्यदा । विराट् तदैव पुरुष: सलिलादुदतिष्ठत ॥ ७० ॥
cittena hṛdayaṁ caityaḥ kṣetra-jñaḥ prāviśad yadā virāṭ tadaiva puruṣaḥ salilād udatiṣṭhata
Mais lorsque le Contrôleur intérieur, le Kṣetrajña présidant la conscience, entra dans le cœur avec la conscience, à cet instant même le virāṭ-puruṣa se leva des eaux causales.
This verse identifies the kṣetrajña as the indwelling witness (caitya) who enters and illumines the heart and mind, enabling manifestation and ordered experience within creation.
The verse teaches that mere material elements are inert; when the indwelling conscious principle (the inner witness) is present, the universal form becomes active and creation can manifest in an organized way.
Remembering the inner witness cultivates mindfulness and moral restraint—acting with awareness that the Supersoul observes within helps steady the mind and purify intentions.
