Parīkṣit’s Inquiry into Vṛtrāsura’s Bhakti and the Beginning of Citraketu’s Trial
This verse shows that jealousy can arise even within royal households when one person’s fortune (like having a son) becomes a cause of inner burning and hatred in others.
They were pained by their co-wife’s good fortune of having a son, and their disapproved conduct toward the king intensified into strong hatred.
Recognize envy as a destructive inner fire and redirect the mind toward gratitude, dharmic conduct, and devotion rather than comparison and rivalry.
