Arcana-vidhi: The Method of Deity Worship
Vedic, Tantric, and Mixed
According to Śrīla Śrīdhara Svāmī, the praṇava, or oṁkāra, has five parts: A, U, M, the nasal bindu and the reverberation ( nāda ). Liberated souls meditate upon the Lord at the end of that reverberation.
This verse teaches that after purification through yogic discipline, one should meditate on the Lord’s supreme presence situated in the heart-lotus as the indwelling reality realized by perfected souls.
In the Uddhava-gītā section, Krishna instructs Uddhava on refined forms of worship and meditation—showing how external devotion (arcana) is completed by internal realization of the Lord within.
Keep a steady daily practice: regulate breath, live cleanly, and then focus devotionally on the Lord within the heart—using mantra and attentive inner listening to cultivate steadiness, purity, and remembrance.
