Mathurā-līlā Prelude
तयोस्तद् अद्भुतं वीर्यं निर्शाम्य पुरवासिनः । तेजः प्रागल्भ्यं रूपं च मनीरे विभुद्दोत्थौ ॥ २२ ॥
tayos tad adbhutaṁ vīryaṁ niśāmya pura-vāsinaḥ tejaḥ prāgalbhyaṁ rūpaṁ ca menire vibudhottamau
Ayant vu l’exploit merveilleux de Kṛṣṇa et de Balarāma, et contemplant Leur force, Leur hardiesse et Leur beauté, les gens de la cité pensèrent qu’Ils étaient deux grands demi-dieux.
By observing Their extraordinary prowess along with unmistakable splendor, fearless confidence, and unparalleled beauty, the residents concluded These qualities were of divine origin.
To show how Bhagavān’s presence naturally reveals itself—His beauty and majesty awaken recognition in onlookers, advancing the Mathurā-līlā narrative as Krishna arrives in the city.
