The Appearance of Lord Viṣṇu (Kṛṣṇa) and the Divine Exchange with Yoga-māyā
मघोनि वर्षत्यसकृद् यमानुजा गम्भीरतोयौघजवोर्मिफेनिला । भयानकावर्तशताकुला नदी मागन ददौ सिन्धुरिव श्रिय: पते: ॥ ५० ॥
maghoni varṣaty asakṛd yamānujā gambhīra-toyaugha-javormi-phenilā bhayānakāvarta-śatākulā nadī mārgaṁ dadau sindhur iva śriyaḥ pateḥ
Sous la pluie incessante envoyée par Indra, la Yamunā se gonfla d’eaux profondes, écumantes de vagues impétueuses et troublées par des centaines de tourbillons terrifiants. Pourtant, comme l’océan jadis s’écarta devant Śrī Rāmacandra, la Yamunā s’écarta aussi devant Vasudeva et le laissa traverser.
Because the Supreme Lord (Śriyaḥ-pati) was being carried across; by divine will the Yamunā, though dangerous with floods and whirlpools, granted safe passage.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī speaks this verse to Mahārāja Parīkṣit while narrating the events surrounding Lord Kṛṣṇa’s birth and protection.
When one carries the Lord in the heart through sincere devotion, obstacles can be overcome by grace; faith and steady duty (like Vasudeva’s) invite divine assistance even amid danger.
