Pṛthu Pursues the Earth and the Earth Takes the Form of a Cow
Bhūmi as Gauḥ
मैत्रेय उवाच एवं स भगवान् वैन्य: ख्यापितो गुणकर्मभि: । छन्दयामास तान् कामै: प्रतिपूज्याभिनन्द्य च ॥ १ ॥
maitreya uvāca evaṁ sa bhagavān vainyaḥ khyāpito guṇa-karmabhiḥ chandayām āsa tān kāmaiḥ pratipūjyābhinandya ca
Maitreya dit : Ainsi Bhagavān Vainya (Pṛthu) fut célébré par le récit de ses qualités et de ses actes chevaleresques. Puis le Mahārāja Pṛthu les honora comme il se doit, les salua avec respect et les combla de présents variés.
This verse shows that a righteous leader becomes renowned by good qualities and actions, and he pleases others through respectful honor, kind reception, and appropriate fulfillment of legitimate needs.
He is called Vainya because he is the son (descendant) of King Vena; the epithet identifies his lineage while highlighting his later fame through virtue and deeds.
Practice leadership through character and service: respect people sincerely, acknowledge their contributions, and meet reasonable needs—especially while maintaining dharma.
