Knowledge of Brahman
इत्य् आग्नेये महापुराणे ब्रह्मज्ञानं नाम षट्सप्तत्यधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः अथ सप्तसप्तत्यधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः ब्रह्मज्ञानं अग्निर् उवाच अहं ब्रह्म परं ज्योतिः पृथिव्यवनलोज्झितं अहं ब्रह्म परं ज्योतिर्वाय्वाकाशविवर्जितं
ity āgneye mahāpurāṇe brahmajñānaṃ nāma ṣaṭsaptatyadhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ atha saptasaptatyadhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ brahmajñānaṃ agnir uvāca ahaṃ brahma paraṃ jyotiḥ pṛthivyavanalojjhitaṃ ahaṃ brahma paraṃ jyotirvāyvākāśavivarjitaṃ
Ainsi, dans l’Agni Mahāpurāṇa, s’achève le chapitre 376 intitulé « Brahma-jñāna » (Connaissance de Brahman). Commence maintenant le chapitre 377, « Brahma-jñāna ». Agni déclara : « Je suis Brahman, la Lumière suprême—libre de la terre et du feu. Je suis Brahman, la Lumière suprême—dépourvue de vent et d’espace (ākāśa). »

Sandhi Resolution Notes: इत्याग्नेये = इति + आग्नेये; त्रिशततमोऽध्यायः = त्रिशततमः + अध्यायः; अग्निरुवाच = अग्निः + उवाच; ज्योतिः पृथिव्यवनलोज्झितम् (visarga before p); ज्योतिर् वाय्वाकाशविवर्जितम् = ज्योतिः + वाय्वाकाशविवर्जितम् (visarga→र्).
It imparts Brahma-jñāna (Vedāntic knowledge): Brahman is taught as the supreme, element-transcending Light, not limited by the gross elements (earth, fire, wind, space).
Alongside ritual, polity, medicine, and arts, the Agni Purāṇa also preserves mokṣa-śāstra material; this verse exemplifies its Vedāntic/metaphysical layer by defining Brahman beyond elemental categories.
Contemplating Brahman as the element-free supreme Light supports disidentification from material constituents and promotes liberation-oriented insight (mokṣa), reducing attachment-driven karma.
