FAQs

It teaches a precise pūjā sequence: satisfy the deity through offerings and stuti, perform ācamana using the Puruṣa-mantra, mentally address the deity, and utter the formal instruction “utthīyatām prabho” as part of the worship’s transition/concluding protocol.

Beyond mythology, the Agni Purāṇa preserves practical liturgical manuals: step-by-step worship actions, mantra-usage, and formal ritual speech—showing it functions as a compendium of applied religious practice (pūjā-śāstra) alongside other sciences.

It emphasizes purity (ācamana), correct mantra-application, and respectful address to the deity; performing worship with proper sequence and reverence is traditionally held to make the rite efficacious and merit-bearing (puṇya), minimizing ritual faults.
