Adhivāsana-vidhi

Procedure for Preliminary Consecration in Vāstu–Pratiṣṭhā / Īśāna-kalpa

Concept: Ritual efficacy depends on correct adhikaraṇa (proper locus) and krama (sequence) in worship.

Application: Standardize initiation/installation workflows: prepare locus, worship via maṇḍala, then move to kuṇḍa for fire-acts.

FAQs

It gives the operational sequence for dīkṣā and sthāpana: perform worship via kumbha/sthaṇḍila/maṇḍala, complete maṇḍala-arcana to the presiding deity, then move to the homa-kuṇḍa for the fire-rite phase.

It exemplifies the text’s manual-like coverage of ritual technology—linking diagrammatic worship (maṇḍala), vessel-consecration (kumbha/kalaśa), altar preparation (sthaṇḍila), and fire-liturgical execution (kuṇḍa) into a step-by-step procedure.

By prescribing a correct progression from consecration and invocation to the fire-pit, it safeguards ritual purity and efficacy—ensuring the deity is properly established and worship is properly “transferred” into homa, traditionally held to yield purification and merit.
