Īśvara (the Lord, as the instructing deity within the ritual discourse)

Concept: Dīkṣā is a sequenced integration of ritual pacification (śānti), purification (viśuddhi), and doctrinal mapping (tattva/varṇa) under īśvara-upadeśa.
Application: When teaching/performing initiation, preserve procedural continuity (‘pūrvavat’) and ensure the candidate is ritually and doctrinally prepared before higher linkages are introduced.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 87 (Śānti-śodhana); Agni Purana 88 (Nirvāṇa-dīkṣā-kathana, tattva-varṇa sequence)
It introduces the nirvāṇa-dīkṣā framework and instructs that the sandhāna (integration/linking of ritual components) be performed with śānti and full purification, following the earlier method, leading into a technical exposition of tattva and varṇa.
It shows the Agni Purāṇa functioning as a ritual handbook: it indexes chapters, names sub-topics (śānti-śodhana, nirvāṇa-dīkṣā), and signals a structured technical curriculum (tattva-varṇa) typical of tantric-ritual encyclopedism.
By requiring viśuddhi (thorough purification) and proper śānti integration before proceeding, the text emphasizes karmic cleansing and ritual correctness as prerequisites for a liberation-oriented initiation (nirvāṇa-dīkṣā).
