Lord Agni (traditionally narrating Agni Purana’s ritual sections to Vasiṣṭha)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Dharmashastra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Proper deconsecration protocol: worship and dismiss kalaśa and directional guardians, dismiss attendant gaṇas, and safely conclude/protect an externally maintained consecrated fire.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Visarjana of Kalaśa, Lokapālas, Gaṇas; Safeguarding External Consecrated Fire","lookup_keywords":["kalaśa-pūjā","lokapāla","visarjana","gaṇa-visarjana","bāhya-agni"],"quick_summary":"After honoring the kalaśa and Lokapālas, formally dismiss them and the attendant gaṇas; if the consecrated fire is maintained outside, conclude it with due protection and protocol."}

Concept: Ritual powers invoked into space and vessels must be respectfully released; boundaries and guardians are integral to sacred order.

Application: Do not abruptly end rites—perform systematic visarjana and ensure external fire is not left ritually ‘open’ or physically unsafe.

Khanda Section: Pūjā-vidhi (Ritual Procedure / Visarjana and Protective Rites)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"The ritualist worships the kalaśa and the eight Lokapālas around the perimeter, performs formal dismissal, releases attendant gaṇas, and carefully concludes an external consecrated fire.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural: circular mandala with eight directional guardians at compass points, central kalaśa with leaves, priest performing visarjana gestures, external fire shown at the edge with protective markings, earthy tones.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore: symmetrical composition with gold-highlighted kalaśa, Lokapālas in small medallions around, priest concluding rites, stylized fire at outer border, ornate frame.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore: diagrammatic depiction of directions, placement of lokapāla offerings, kalaśa position, and external fire safety/conclusion steps, clean instructional clarity.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature: courtyard ritual with a kalaśa on a stand, attendants at cardinal points, small fire outside the main pavilion, fine directional symmetry and architectural detail."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"instructional","suggested_raga":"Shankarabharanam","pace":"medium","voice_tone":"instructional"}

FAQs

It teaches the correct ritual closure (visarjana): after kalaśa- and Lokapāla-pūjā, one formally dismisses the invoked powers (Lokapālas and gaṇas) and properly secures/concludes the established sacred fire, especially when maintained in an outer/auxiliary location.

It preserves procedural detail from applied ritual science—how to end a worship sequence safely and correctly—showing the Agni Purana’s practical coverage of temple and domestic rites alongside its many other disciplines.

Proper visarjana prevents ritual incompleteness (doṣa) and maintains sanctity and protection (rakṣā), ensuring the rite yields merit without disturbance from improperly concluded invocations.
