Application: Daily Śaiva sādhana checklist: (1) assume restraints, (2) apply bhasma/insignia, (3) perform krama-japa with chosen authorized mantra-set, (4) mentally place/empower limbs and elements before pūjā.

It prescribes a Shaiva japa/nyāsa practice: consecrating specific observances and ritual ‘limbs’ (bhūta-aṅgas) using either the Īśāna-mantra set or the Hṛdaya (aṅga) mantra set, recited in a fixed order.
It shows the Agni Purana functioning as a compact ritual handbook: alongside myths and dharma, it preserves technical liturgical details—mantra sets, sequencing (krama), and the ritual sanctification of ascetic insignia—typical of its wide-ranging, encyclopedic scope.
By empowering ascetic restraints and Shaiva insignia through properly ordered mantra-japa, the practitioner ritually purifies and stabilizes the body-mind as a fit vessel for worship, supporting merit (puṇya), self-control (saṃyama), and effective devotion.
