Related Themes: Agni Purana 72.26 (morning sandhyā); Agni Purana 72.29 (Raudrī dhyāna)
It prescribes a specific midday (madhyāhna) dhyāna: visualizing Vaiṣṇavī’s exact color, seat/vehicle (Garuḍa and lotus-seat), and emblems (conch, discus, mace) along with the protective abhaya gesture—i.e., a precise iconographic meditation used in pūjā and nyāsa-oriented practice.
Beyond myth, it functions as a practical ritual manual: it codifies time-specific worship (midday) and standardized deity-iconography (āyudha, mudrā, vāhana/āsana), showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of liturgy, visualization techniques, and tantric-ritual detail alongside other sciences.
Meditating on Vaiṣṇavī in this protective form aligns the practitioner with Viṣṇu’s preserving power, cultivating fearlessness (abhaya), protection, and ritual purity—traditionally understood to remove obstacles and stabilize sattvic devotion during the day’s central junction.
