FAQs

It prescribes dakṣiṇā-vidhi: the yajamāna should remunerate the ritual with specific gifts—cows, land, ornaments, and clothing—while the rite is carried out by the proper assisting functionary when the patron is a young householder.

Beyond theology, it records practical ritual protocol—who performs the rite and what compensation is due—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of applied dharma, social economy of sacrifice, and ceremonial standards.

Proper dakṣiṇā is treated as essential to completing a sacrifice; giving it with reverence is understood to perfect the rite, generate religious merit (puṇya), and uphold dharma through honoring sacred service.
