Concept: Ritual has a dhārmic structure: main offerings, residual/auxiliary completion (śeṣa), and a formal sealing act (pūrṇāhuti) that ‘closes’ the sacrificial action.
Application: In homa practice, never omit closure: perform śeṣa-homa and the prescribed number of pūrṇāhuti to avoid an ‘unfinished’ rite in procedural terms.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 66 (āhuti types; śeṣa-homa; pūrṇāhuti rules)
It gives the closing sequence of a homa: perform the prescribed ghee-offerings with the indicated mantra-formula, complete the residual/auxiliary offerings (śeṣa-homa), and conclude with three pūrṇāhutis (full, final oblations).
By preserving a precise, procedural ritual rubric (krama) for fire-offerings—mantra-usage, residual offerings, and formal conclusion—showing the text’s function as a practical handbook alongside its mythic and doctrinal material.
Correctly completing the rite with śeṣa-homa and the concluding pūrṇāhutis is traditionally held to “seal” the sacrifice, remove procedural deficiency, and secure the intended merit (puṇya) and purification associated with the homa.
