It teaches a Narasiṃha protective mantra-prayoga (rakṣā-kalpa) using bīja-syllables (kṣauṃ, hrūṃ) and expelling syllables (phaṭ) to subdue/repel hostile forces (asuras, pātāla-beings, and mantra-formed influences) and to secure protection from all dangers.
Alongside theology and narrative, the Agni Purana preserves applied ritual technology—mantra-vidyā, protective formulas, and practical countermeasures—showing its wide scope that includes liturgy, esoteric rites, and methods for averting misfortune.
Invoking Narasiṃha as Viṣṇu’s fierce protective form is framed as a dharmic safeguard: it removes fear and doubt, wards off afflictions, and supports legitimate aims (artha-siddhi) through reliance on divine protection rather than harmful action.
