The Procedure for Installing Lakṣmī

Concept: Sacralization extends to instruments and environment: purity and auspiciousness (śrī) are established by mantra before the deity’s dwelling is ritually finalized.

Application: In consecrations, do not omit ‘supporting objects’ (lamps, vessels, bells, textiles, doors, etc.); treat them as part of the prāsāda’s living ritual body.

FAQs

It prescribes a specific consecration protocol: ritually dedicating implements and related items by reciting the Śrīsūkta, then completing the full prāsāda-saṃskāra following the previously stated step-by-step method.

It functions like a practical ritual manual within the Purana, preserving applied knowledge of temple/structure consecration (vastu and pratisṭhā-oriented rites) alongside the text’s many other disciplines.

Using the Śrīsūkta links the rite to Śrī (auspiciousness and prosperity), framing consecration as both purification and sacral dedication—intended to make the space and its implements fit for worship and merit-bearing use.
