Related Themes: Agni Purana 61 (nyāsa, yantra–mandala, vighna-śānti steps); Agni Purana passages on Gaṇeśa worship in pūjā-krama
It gives a concrete altar-layout instruction: install a kalaśa, place a sacred cakra above it, and establish eight Vighneśvaras around the vedī for obstacle-removal and rite-protection.
Alongside theology, the Agni Purana preserves step-by-step liturgical engineering—how to physically arrange vessels, symbols, and protective deities—showing it functions as a practical manual for temple/household ritual, not only a narrative Purana.
Installing Vighneśvara forms and a consecrated arrangement around the altar is meant to avert impediments (vighna), stabilize the rite, and ensure the offering’s purity and intended merit (puṇya) are not obstructed.
