Discourse on Vāstu for Cities and Related Settlements
Lord Agni (in instruction to sage Vasiṣṭha, typical Agni Purāṇa dialogue frame)

Related Themes: Agni Purana 105 (kṣetra-lakṣaṇa, gṛha-doṣa, dik-vibhāga context)
It teaches Vāstu-kṣetra-parīkṣā: identifying auspicious land by specific physical ‘lakṣaṇas’ (marks) such as gṛha-valī and triśūla, and rejecting plots with the śalā-type blemish, to ensure a growth-giving site.
Beyond mythology, it preserves applied technical rules of Vāstu-śāstra—directional/sector-based land diagnostics and suitability criteria—showing the Agni Purāṇa’s coverage of practical sciences like architecture, planning, and auspicious-site selection.
Choosing an unblemished, auspicious plot is presented as aligning human dwelling with cosmic order (directional and elemental harmony), thereby supporting prosperity (vṛddhi) and reducing inauspicious outcomes linked with defective sites.
